Ingredients

Water, maltodextrin, sucrose, milk protein isolate, high oleic sunflower oil, soy oil, medium chain triglycerides (from coconut and/or palm kernel oil), sodium caseinate, minerals (potassium citrate, calcium carbonate, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, sodium citrate, ferrous sulphate, zinc sulphate, manganese sulphate, copper sulphate, sodium fluoride, chromium chloride, sodium molybdate, potassium iodide, sodium selenate), emulsifier (soy lecithin), vitamins (choline chloride, ascorbic acid, vitamin E acetate, niacinamide, calcium pantothenate, vitamin A palmitate, thiamine chloride hydrochloride, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, folic acid, phylloquinone, biotin, vitamin D3, cyanocobalamin), inositol, taurine, carnitine, natural and artificial flavour, acidity regulator (citric acid).

Product Description

PaediaSure Plus is a 1.5 kcal/ml complete, balanced nutrition for children weighing 8-30kg. This energy-dense paediatric formula is designed for use under medical supervision and is suitable as a sole source of nutrition or as a nutritional supplement for children who cannot or will not eat sufficient quantities of everyday food and drink to meet their nutritional requirements.

The formula features a balanced macronutrient profile with high-quality protein sources including milk protein isolate and sodium caseinate. The fat blend includes MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides) for easier absorption. PaediaSure Plus provides 50% more calories per ml than standard PaediaSure.

PaediaSure Plus is nutritionally complete for vitamins and minerals in lower volumes compared to standard PaediaSure. Available in 200ml bottles in vanilla, banana, strawberry, and unflavoured, and 500ml Ready to Hang (RTH) containers in vanilla flavour only.

Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed. Many nutritional products contain sucrose and other sugars. It is important for patients who are taking supplements as sip feeds to observe good oral hygiene.

Usage Instructions

Storage & Directions for Sip Feeding

• Store unopened at room temperature
• Ready for use. Open immediately prior to use
• Shake well before use
• Best served chilled. May also be served as warm drinks. Do not boil
• Once opened, unused product should be covered/resealed and stored in a refrigerator. Unused contents should be discarded after 24 hours
• Date and time of opening can be recorded on the lid sticker

Community Use - Prescriptions

PaediaSure Plus can be prescribed on FP10 (GP10 in Scotland) for children weighing 8-30kg with conditions including:

• Disease-related malnutrition and/or growth failure
• Short bowel syndrome
• Bowel fistulae
• Intractable malabsorption
• Pre-operative preparation of patients who are malnourished
• Dysphagia
• Proven inflammatory bowel disease
• Following total gastrectomy

All prescriptions should be endorsed ACBS (Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances).

Available on the DPS (Drugs Payment Scheme) and GMS (General Medical Services) scheme in Ireland.

Precautions

• In patients receiving some medications there may be a risk of drug nutrient interactions (e.g. warfarin and vitamin K). Careful prescribing and monitoring practices will serve to reduce the risk
• Do not make any additions to the feed without consulting your pharmacist or dietitian

Contra-indications

• Do not use in children under 1 year of age
• Not for use in galactosaemia
• Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed
• Not for parenteral use
