Note: This product is designed for the dietary management of cow's milk allergy, so the milk proteins present have been broken down (hydrolysed) to reduce the likelihood of them causing an allergic reaction.

Preparation and Directions for Usage

Important: Powdered infant formula is not sterile. Formula should be prepared immediately prior to feeding. Do not boil formula and do not use a microwave to prepare or warm formula.

Preparation Instructions

1. Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturer's instructions
2. Boil 1 litre of fresh water
3. Leave kettle to cool for 30 minutes and no longer
4. Measure the required amount of water into a sterilised bottle
5. Be careful of scalding
6. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water
7. Using the scoop provided, level off the powder with the built-in leveller
8. Do not press/heap the powder
9. Add the correct measure of powder to the water
10. Place the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and shake vertically and vigorously for 25 seconds to dissolve the powder
11. Cool under running tap
12. Check temperature of feed
13. Feed immediately

Recommended Feed Concentration

One level scoop (as provided in the tin) provides approximately 4.5g of powder. Add one level scoop of powder to every fluid ounce (30ml) of water to yield the recommended feed concentration. Scoop Weight: 1 level scoop provides 4.5g of powder.

Indications

For enteral use only. ACBS approved, prescribable on form FP10 (GP10 in Scotland) for the dietary management of cow's milk allergy.

Contra-Indications

Not suitable for vegetarians or Halal diet. UK kosher approval notes that Aptamil Pepti 2 is processed using pork trypsin enzyme, which is not present in the final product.

Precautions

Must be used under medical supervision, after full consideration of all feeding options, including breastfeeding. Due to the special formulation of the feed, there may be some separation of prepared feeds on standing. Shake well before use.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place. Do not refrigerate. Once opened, use within four weeks. Always replace container lid after use.

Shelf Life

18 months. Best before date: see base of tin.
