Product Description

Jevity Advance is a 1.5 kcal/ml complete, balanced high protein liquid enteral tube feed designed specifically for the dietary management of malnourished or nutritionally-at-risk older adults. Each 500ml Ready to Hang (RTH) container provides 750 kcal and an impressive 40g of high-quality protein from milk and soy sources, representing 21.35% of total energy content. This high protein formulation supports muscle maintenance and recovery in vulnerable patient populations.

The formula contains increased levels of protein and vitamin D compared to standard feeds, along with fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) for digestive health and β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate (HMB) to support muscle protein synthesis. With 3.75g of FOS fibre and 1.20g of HMB per 500ml container, Jevity Advance provides comprehensive nutritional support for patients requiring enteral nutrition. The product has a low viscosity that will flow down a fine nasogastric tube, making it suitable for various tube feeding methods.

Manufactured by Abbott Laboratories Ltd, a global leader in clinical nutrition, Jevity Advance is nutritionally complete for vitamins and minerals in just 1111ml (excluding electrolytes, calculated using the UK Reference Nutrient Intake for men aged 19-50 years). The unflavoured formula is suitable as a sole source of nutrition or as a nutritional supplement under medical supervision. It is designed for enteral use only and should be administered at room temperature for tube feeding.

Jevity Advance is gluten-free, suitable for vegetarians, and appropriate for people with diabetes when routine glucose monitoring is performed. The product contains milk and soya proteins and is formulated with high oleic sunflower oil, canola oil, and MCT from palm kernel oil to provide a balanced fatty acid profile. It includes added taurine, L-carnitine, and choline to support overall health and metabolic function in patients requiring long-term enteral nutrition support.

Usage Instructions

⚠️ FOR ENTERAL USE ONLY - This product is for tube feeding administration only and must not be taken orally.

Jevity Advance is ready for use and requires no preparation. Administer at room temperature for tube feeding. The volume and flow rate should be adjusted to meet the patient's nutritional needs and tolerance. This product has a low viscosity and will flow down a fine nasogastric tube.

Administration Methods

• Gravity Feeding: Use of a Flexiflo gravity gavage set is recommended
• Pump Feeding: An Abbott enteral feeding pump may be used in conjunction with the Abbott enteral feeding system where a more accurately controlled delivery of feed is indicated
• Ambulatory System: An ambulatory system is available for use
• Flexitainer: A Flexitainer enteral nutrition container may be used if decanting is necessary

Dosage Recommendations

• For supplementary nutrition: As recommended by healthcare professional
• For sole source nutrition: 1111ml provides complete vitamins and minerals (excluding electrolytes) for adults aged 19-50 years
• Recommended not to exceed 2L per day
• Not intended for use in children unless recommended by a healthcare professional
• Use under medical supervision
• Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed

Community Use - Prescriptions

Can be prescribed on a FP10 (GP10 in Scotland) for the following indications:

• Disease-related malnutrition
• Total gastrectomy
• Short bowel syndrome
• Bowel fistulae
• Intractable malabsorption
• Pre-operative preparation of patients who are malnourished
• Proven inflammatory bowel disease
• Dysphagia

All prescriptions should be endorsed ACBS (Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances).

Precautions

• In patients receiving some medications there may be a risk of drug nutrient interactions (e.g. warfarin and vitamin K). Careful prescribing and monitoring practices will serve to reduce the risk (please refer to pharmacist)
• Patients should not make any additions to the feed without consulting their pharmacist or dietitian
• Unless recommended by a healthcare professional, not intended for use in children

Storage

Store unopened at room temperature. Avoid prolonged exposure to light. Once opened, unused product should be resealed and stored in a refrigerator. Unused contents should be discarded after 24 hours.
