Product Description

Jevity Plus HP is a 1.3 kcal/ml complete, balanced, high protein liquid enteral tube feed with mixed fibre and FOS (fructo-oligosaccharides). This high protein product is specifically designed for long term feeding where fibre is important to maintain normal bowel function. Available in 500ml Ready to Hang (RTH) containers providing 655 kcal and 40.65g of high quality protein per container, Jevity Plus HP is ideal for patients with increased protein requirements.

The formula contains a unique blend of mixed fibres including fructo-oligosaccharide powder (66.8%), oat fibre (14.9%), soy fibre (9.96%), gum arabic (5.81%), and carboxymethyl cellulose (2.49%), providing a total of 1.50g of fibre per 100ml with 75% soluble and 25% insoluble fibre. This mixed fibre composition supports digestive health and helps maintain normal bowel function in patients requiring long-term enteral nutrition support.

Manufactured by Abbott Laboratories Ltd, a global leader in clinical nutrition, Jevity Plus HP is nutritionally complete for vitamins and minerals in 1200ml (excluding electrolytes, calculated using the UK Reference Nutrient Intake for men aged 19-50 years). The unflavoured formula has a low viscosity that will pass down a fine nasogastric tube, making it suitable for bolus or pump feeding only. It is designed for enteral use only and should be administered at room temperature for tube feeding.

Jevity Plus HP is gluten-free, clinically lactose-free, and suitable for vegetarians. The product is formulated with high oleic sunflower oil, canola oil, and MCT from palm kernel oil to provide a balanced fatty acid profile. With 24.81% of energy from protein, it provides excellent support for patients with increased protein needs such as wound healing, pressure ulcers, or malnutrition. It includes added taurine, L-carnitine, and choline to support overall health and metabolic function. Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed.

Usage Instructions

⚠️ FOR ENTERAL USE ONLY - This product is for tube feeding administration only and must not be taken orally.

Jevity Plus HP is ready for use and requires no preparation. For bolus or pump feeding only. Administer at room temperature for tube feeding. The volume and flow rate should be adjusted to meet the patient's nutritional needs and tolerance. This product has a low viscosity and will pass down a fine nasogastric tube.

Administration Methods

• Bolus Feeding: Suitable for bolus administration
• Pump Feeding: An Abbott enteral feeding pump may be used in conjunction with the Abbott enteral feeding system where a more accurately controlled delivery of feed is indicated
• Ambulatory System: An ambulatory system is available for use
• Flexitainer: A Flexitainer enteral nutrition container may be used if decanting is necessary
• Gravity Feeding: Use of a Flexiflo gravity gavage set is recommended

• Use under medical supervision
• Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed
• Not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age
• When feeding to patients with dysphagia, please thicken the product as appropriate

Community Use - Prescriptions

Can be prescribed on a FP10 (GP10 in Scotland) for the following indications:

• Disease-related malnutrition
• Total gastrectomy
• Short bowel syndrome
• Bowel fistulae
• Intractable malabsorption
• Pre-operative preparation of patients who are malnourished
• Proven inflammatory bowel disease
• Haemodialysis
• Dysphagia
• CAPD

All prescriptions should be endorsed ACBS (Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances).

Contraindications

• FOR ENTERAL USE ONLY
• Do not use in children under 2 years of age
• Not for use in galactosaemia
• Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed

Precautions

• In patients receiving some medications there may be a risk of drug nutrient interactions (e.g. warfarin and vitamin K). Careful prescribing and monitoring practices will serve to reduce the risk (please refer to pharmacist)
• Patients should not make any additions to the feed without consulting their pharmacist or dietitian
• Unless recommended by a qualified healthcare professional, not recommended for use in children
• When feeding to patients with dysphagia, please thicken the product as appropriate

Storage

Store unopened at room temperature. Avoid prolonged exposure to light. Once opened, unused product should be resealed and stored in a refrigerator. Unused contents should be discarded after 24 hours.
