Ingredients - Ketocal 2.5 1L

Water, MCT oil (medium chain triglycerides), whey protein concentrate (from cow's milk), glucose syrup, vegetable oils (sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, coconut oil), minerals (calcium phosphate, potassium chloride, sodium chloride, magnesium oxide, ferrous sulphate, zinc sulphate, copper sulphate, manganese sulphate, potassium iodide, sodium selenite), vitamins (retinyl acetate, cholecalciferol, DL-α-tocopherol, phytomenadione, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, niacinamide, D-pantothenic acid, pyridoxine hydrochloride, cyanocobalamin, folic acid, D-biotin, L-ascorbic acid), taurine, L-carnitine, choline bitartrate, inositol, emulsifier (soy lecithin).

Product Description

Ketocal 2.5 is a Food for Special Medical Purposes for use under medical supervision. It is a nutritionally complete liquid formula with a high fat to carbohydrate and protein ratio (2.5:1) designed to support the ketogenic diet for the dietary management of drug-resistant epilepsy. Ketocal 2.5 contains 52% of its fat as MCT (medium chain triglycerides) for enhanced ketone production. It is suitable for children and adults requiring enteral nutrition support using a ketogenic diet protocol. Ketocal 2.5 is ACBS approved and prescribable on FP10 (GP10 in Scotland).

Indications

For enteral use only. For the dietary management of drug-resistant epilepsy using the ketogenic diet. Suitable for children and adults requiring nutritional support with a high-fat, low-carbohydrate formula.

Medical Supervision

Must be used under strict medical supervision. The ketogenic diet requires careful monitoring of ketone levels, glucose levels, and overall nutritional status. Feeding amounts and duration should be determined by a clinician or specialist dietitian only.

Preparation Instructions

1. Shake well before use
2. Ketocal 2.5 is ready-to-use and does not require dilution
3. Can be used at room temperature or chilled, depending on preference
4. If using via feeding tube, ensure tube is patent and appropriate for liquid feeds
5. Administer at the rate and volume prescribed by the healthcare team
6. Once opened, use within 24 hours if stored at room temperature
7. Once opened, use within 48 hours if refrigerated

Feeding Recommendations

• Feeding amounts should be determined by age, weight, and medical condition
• Always follow guidance from the healthcare team managing the ketogenic diet protocol
• Monitor for signs of intolerance or gastrointestinal upset

Storage

• Store unopened bottles in a cool place below 25°C
• Once opened, refrigerate and use within 48 hours
