Product Description

Jevity is a 1.1 kcal/ml complete, balanced liquid enteral tube feed with mixed fibre and FOS (fructo-oligosaccharides). This product is specifically designed for long term feeding where mixed fibre is important to maintain normal bowel function. Available in three convenient Ready to Hang (RTH) container sizes - 500ml (535 kcal), 1000ml (1070 kcal), and 1500ml (1604 kcal) - Jevity provides flexible options to meet varying patient nutritional needs.

The formula contains a unique blend of mixed fibres including fructo-oligosaccharide powder (39%), oat fibre (27.4%), soy fibre (18.3%), gum arabic (10.7%), and carboxymethyl cellulose (4.7%), providing a total of 1.76g of fibre per 100ml with an optimal balance of 55% soluble and 45% insoluble fibre. This mixed fibre composition supports digestive health and helps maintain normal bowel function in patients requiring long-term enteral nutrition support.

Manufactured by Abbott Laboratories Ltd, a global leader in clinical nutrition, Jevity is nutritionally complete for vitamins and minerals in just 1415ml (excluding electrolytes, calculated using the UK Reference Nutrient Intake for men aged 19-50 years). The unflavoured formula has a low viscosity that will pass down a fine nasogastric tube, making it suitable for various tube feeding methods. It is designed for enteral use only and should be administered at room temperature for tube feeding.

Jevity is gluten-free, clinically lactose-free, and suitable for vegetarians. The product is formulated with high oleic sunflower oil, canola oil, corn oil, and MCT from palm kernel oil to provide a balanced fatty acid profile. It includes added taurine, L-carnitine, and choline to support overall health and metabolic function in patients requiring long-term enteral nutrition support. Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed.

Usage Instructions

⚠️ FOR ENTERAL USE ONLY - This product is for tube feeding administration only and must not be taken orally.

Jevity is ready for use and requires no preparation. Administer at room temperature for tube feeding. The volume and flow rate should be adjusted to meet the patient's nutritional needs and tolerance. This product has a low viscosity and will pass down a fine nasogastric tube.

Administration Methods

• Gravity Feeding: Use of a Flexiflo gravity gavage set is recommended
• Pump Feeding: An Abbott enteral feeding pump may be used in conjunction with the Abbott enteral feeding system where a more accurately controlled delivery of feed is indicated
• Ambulatory System: An ambulatory system is available for use
• Flexitainer: A Flexitainer enteral nutrition container may be used if decanting is necessary

• For sole source nutrition: 1415ml provides complete vitamins and minerals (excluding electrolytes) for adults aged 19-50 years
• Use under medical supervision
• Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed
• Unless recommended by a qualified healthcare professional, not intended for use in children
• When feeding to patients with dysphagia, please thicken the product as appropriate

Community Use - Prescriptions

Can be prescribed on a FP10 (GP10 in Scotland) for the following indications:

• Disease-related malnutrition
• Total gastrectomy
• Short bowel syndrome
• Bowel fistulae
• Intractable malabsorption
• Pre-operative preparation of patients who are malnourished
• Proven inflammatory bowel disease
• Dysphagia

All prescriptions should be endorsed ACBS (Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances).

Precautions

• In patients receiving some medications there may be a risk of drug nutrient interactions (e.g. warfarin and vitamin K). Careful prescribing and monitoring practices will serve to reduce the risk (please refer to pharmacist)
• Patients should not make any additions to the feed without consulting their pharmacist or dietitian
• Unless recommended by a qualified healthcare professional, not intended for use in children
• When feeding to patients with dysphagia, please thicken the product as appropriate

Storage

Store unopened at room temperature. Avoid prolonged exposure to light. Once opened, unused product should be resealed and stored in a refrigerator. Unused contents should be discarded after 24 hours.
