Product Description

Thick & Easy® Clear is a gum based food and beverage powdered thickener consisting of maltodextrin, xanthan gum, carrageenan, and erythritol. Unlike traditional thickeners that can make liquids cloudy or opaque, Thick & Easy® Clear maintains the natural appearance of fluids, keeping drinks looking clear and appetising.

This innovative formulation provides clear results in water or other liquids and remains stable for up to 24 hours, making it ideal for supporting patient compliance and hydration. The clear appearance can help encourage fluid intake in individuals with dysphagia who may be reluctant to consume cloudy thickened drinks.

IDDSI Mixing Guidelines (Per 200ml)

1 Scoop = approximately 1.4g | 126g tin = 90 scoops

Preparation and Directions for Usage

1. Using the scoop in the tin, add recommended number of level scoops of powder into an empty dry glass/cup
2. Add desired liquid to the glass
3. Stir briskly with a whisk or fork until dissolved
4. Leave to stand for 2 minutes before consuming

Keep liquid refrigerated until ready to use.

Freezing

Thick & Easy® Clear is freeze-thaw stable and can be stored for as long as the food or liquid that is thickened can be preserved.

Storage

Once opened, the tin should be resealed with the plastic lid provided and kept in a cool, dry location (room temperature) and in a relatively odour-free environment. Shelf life once opened is 2 years if stored in the appropriate conditions.

Shelf Life

Thick & Easy® Clear has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture.

Indications

Food for Special Medical Purposes. Thick & Easy® Clear is designed to thicken food and fluids for patients who have difficulty swallowing (dysphagia). For the dietary management of conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, muscular dystrophy, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, malignancies of the oral cavity and throat, and neurological disorders caused by injury.

Thick & Easy® Clear is prescribable on FP10/GP10 for the thickening of food and fluids in dysphagia.

Contra-Indications

For enteral use only. Not suitable for children under three years of age.

Precautions

Should only be used under medical supervision. Intended for use as a food and beverage thickener. Not intended to contribute significantly to energy intake. Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition. Ensure adequate fluid intake.
