Product Description

PKU Lophlex Select 20 is a Food for Special Medical Purposes for use under medical supervision. PKU Lophlex Select 20 is a nutritionally incomplete, phenylalanine free amino acid-based liquid containing a balanced mix of essential and non-essential amino acids, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), vitamins, trace elements and some minerals. With sugars and sweeteners. PKU Lophlex Select 20 is for the dietary management of proven phenylketonuria in children from 4 years of age and adults, including pregnant women (in conjunction with standard folic acid supplementation).

Indications

For enteral use only. ACBS approved, prescribable on form FP10 (GP10 in Scotland) for the dietary management of phenylketonuria. Suitable for individuals from 4 years of age and adults including pregnant women (in conjunction with standard folic acid supplementation).

Contra-Indications

Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition.

Precautions

Must be used under medical supervision. Not suitable for children under 4 years. For young children additional micronutrient supplementation may be required. Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition. Only intended for use by individuals with proven phenylketonuria (PKU). This product must be supplemented with a source of natural protein, fluid and other nutrients to supply the phenylalanine and general nutrition requirements of the patient in quantities as prescribed by a clinician or dietitian. The product contains only trace amounts of sodium, potassium and chloride.

Preparation and Directions for Usage

The recommended intake of PKU Lophlex Select 20 Peach Tea should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only, and is dependent on age, bodyweight, and medical condition of the patient. The daily intake of PKU Lophlex Select 20 Peach Tea should be distributed throughout the day. Water or diluted drinks should be offered / taken at the same time as PKU Lophlex Select 20 Peach Tea. PKU Lophlex Select 20 is best served chilled. Shake vigorously before use.

Storage

Store at room temperature in a dry place away from sunlight. Shake vigorously before use. Part consumed pouches can be stored in refrigerator up to 24 hours.
