Indications

For enteral use only. For the dietary management of disorders of calcium metabolism (e.g. hypercalcaemia/uria or osteopetrosis), where an extreme restriction of calcium and vitamin D is required. Suitable for infants under 1 year of age and as a supplement for young children.

Medical Supervision

Must be used under strict medical supervision. Not for parenteral use. Calcium and vitamin D levels must be monitored regularly. Feeding amounts and dilution should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only, and is dependent on age, bodyweight and medical condition of the patient.

Preparation Instructions - Bottle Feeding

  1. Wash hands thoroughly and clean the preparation area
  2. Sterilize bottles and teats
  3. Boil fresh water and allow to cool for at least 30 minutes so that it feels warm to the wrist
  4. Pour 2/3 of the required amount of water into a sterilized feeding bottle
  5. Fill the scoop provided with the powder and level off with a clean, dry knife. Do not press the powder into the scoop
  6. Add the prescribed amount of powder to the water
  7. Replace the cap on the bottle and shake until the powder dissolves
  8. Add the remaining amount of water and shake the bottle again
  9. Before feeding ensure that the formula is at the correct temperature by placing a few drops on the wrist
  10. Formula remaining in the bottle after one hour of feeding should be discarded
  11. Formula must not be rewarmed during feeding

Preparation Instructions - Tube or Sip Feeding

  3. Use the scoop provided or weigh out the prescribed amount of powder
  4. Add a small amount of the required water to the prescribed amount of powder and stir with a fork until a smooth paste is obtained
  5. Continue stirring whilst adding the rest of the water until the prescribed dilution is achieved
  6. To prepare a sip feed, wash hands and use clean equipment. Follow preparation instructions 2-5 for a tube feed or add the prescribed amount of powder to the measured volume of water, cover with a lid and shake until the powder is dissolved
  7. Use boiled, cooled water or fresh water depending on age and medical condition

Important Notes

  • Powdered formula is not sterile. Formula should be prepared immediately prior to feeding
  • Do not boil formula and do not use a microwave oven to heat

  • Make sure their teeth are cleaned after the last feed at night
  • Ask your health or dental professional for advice

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Always replace container lid after use
  • Once opened, use within one month
