Important Precautions

Usage Guidelines

  • Must be used under medical supervision.
  • For enteral use only.
  • Suitable for use as sole source of nutrition in infants.
  • Suitable as supplementary feed for children over 1 year and adults.
  • Available in neutral flavour only.
  • Shake or stir formula immediately before use.
  • Formula should not be warmed for longer than 15 minutes prior to feeding.
  • Do not boil formula and do not use microwave oven to prepare or warm formula.
  • Formula remaining in bottle after one hour of feeding should be discarded.
  • Formula must not be rewarmed during feeding.

Preparation and Directions for Usage

The recommended dosage is dependent on the age, bodyweight and medical condition of the patient, and should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only. Each level scoop (5.6g) of powder requires 30ml of water to yield the recommended feed concentration (16.8% w/v). Preparation per 100ml ready to feed: 90ml water of 40°C (preferably) + 3 levelled scoops. It is recommended to use the mixture directly after preparation.

Preparation Instructions for Infants

  1. Wash hands thoroughly and clean the preparation area.
  2. Sterilise the bottles and teats (if using).
  3. At 30 minutes so that it feels warm to the wrist.
  4. Pour the required amount of water into a sterilised feeding bottle.
  5. Fill the scoop provided with infant formula and level off with a clean dry knife. Do not press the powder into the scoop. Only use the scoop provided.
  6. Add the prescribed number of scoops of infant formula to the water.
  7. Replace cap on the bottle and shake until powder is dissolved.
  8. Before feeding, ensure the formula is at the correct temperature by placing a few drops on the wrist.

Preparation Instructions for Older Children

  1. Measure out the prescribed amount of Monogen using the scoop provided.
  2. Add a small amount of the required water.
  3. Stir with a fork until a smooth paste is formed.
  4. Continue stirring whilst adding the rest of the required amount of water.
  5. Once reconstituted, store in a refrigerator and use within 2 hours.

Dosage Information

Shelf Life: 15 months

Storage: Monogen is packed in a protective atmosphere and should be kept tightly sealed and stored in a dry, cool place prior to usage. Do not refrigerate. Once opened, reseal the can and store in a dry, cool place (not a refrigerator). Use within one month.
