Important Precautions
Usage Guidelines
- Must be used under medical supervision.
- Only intended for use by individuals with proven phenylketonuria (PKU).
- This product should not be used as a sole source of protein but must be given in conjunction with a protein source to supply the phenylalanine, fluid and general nutrition requirements of the patient in medically prescribed quantities.
- Not intended for infants or young children.
- Not suitable for children under 8 years of age.
- Suitable for children over 8 years, adults, and pregnant women.

Preparation and Directions for Usage
The recommended dosage and timing of intake is dependent on the age, bodyweight and medical condition of the patient, and should be determined by a dietitian or clinician only. Paste the prescribed amount of powder with a small amount of water. Gradually stir in the remaining water until the required volume is achieved. Initially, a 1 to 7 dilution is recommended (i.e. 100g Maxamum plus 700mls of water or one 50g sachet plus 350mls of water) with the concentration increasing to 1 to 5 (i.e. 100g Maxamum plus 500mls water or one 50g sachet plus 250mls of water), with increasing tolerance. These dilutions are guidelines only. PKU Maxamum can be taken as a more concentrated drink or paste, however water or diluted drinks should also be taken to counteract high osmolality. Maxamum (Unflavoured) may be flavoured with a separate flavouring from the Nutricia range. Scoop Weight: 1 level scoop provides 35g of powder.
Preparation Instructions
- Wash your hands, clean all utensils.
- Paste the prescribed amount of powder with a small amount of water.
- Gradually stir in the remaining water until the required volume is achieved.
- PKU Maxamum is best served chilled and should be consumed immediately.
- Can be flavoured with separate Nutricia flavouring products.
- Do not heat, bake, or add to hot food or drinks (above 55°C).
Usage Methods
- As a chilled drink: Prepare as directed and serve chilled
- As a paste: More concentrated form for flexibility
- With flavouring: Can be flavoured with separate Nutricia flavouring products

Dilution Guidelines
- Initial (1:7): 100g powder + 700ml water OR 50g + 350ml water
- Maintenance (1:5): 100g powder + 500ml water OR 50g + 250ml water
- Increase concentration gradually with tolerance
Scoop Information
Scoop Weight: 1 level scoop provides 35g of powder.
Storage & Shelf Life
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Always replace the container lid after use. Once opened, use within one month. The prepared feed must be refrigerated and must not be kept longer than 24 hours.
