Product Description
TwoCal Bolus is a 2.0 kcal/ml complete, balanced, energy dense liquid enteral tube feed with FOS (fructo-oligosaccharides). It is specifically designed for bolus feeding via a feeding tube, providing a convenient and nutritionally complete solution for patients requiring high energy nutrition in a small volume.
Presented in 200ml (399 kcal) bottles, TwoCal Bolus is ideal for patients who need concentrated nutrition but cannot tolerate large volumes of feed. The high energy density allows patients to meet their nutritional requirements with less fluid intake, making it particularly suitable for fluid-restricted patients or those with limited gastric capacity.
The formula contains 100% soluble fibre in the form of FOS (fructo-oligosaccharides), which may help support digestive health and normal bowel function. With 16.8% of energy from protein and a non-protein calorie to nitrogen ratio of 124:1, TwoCal Bolus provides balanced nutrition for patients with increased energy needs.

TwoCal Bolus is designed for enteral use only and should be administered via bolus feeding through a feeding tube. It is suitable as a sole source of nutrition or as a nutritional supplement for patients who cannot or will not eat sufficient quantities of everyday food and drink to meet their nutritional requirements. Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed.
Note: TwoCal is also available in 1000ml (1997 kcal) Ready to Hang (RTH) containers for tube feeding via continuous or intermittent feeding methods.
Usage Instructions
⚠️ FOR ENTERAL USE ONLY - This product is designed for bolus feeding via a feeding tube and must not be taken orally.
TwoCal Bolus is ready for use and requires no preparation. The volume and frequency of bolus feeds should be adjusted to meet the patient's nutritional needs and tolerance.
Administration Method
Bolus Feeding: TwoCal Bolus is specifically designed for bolus feeding via a feeding tube. Administer at room temperature. Shake well before use. The 200ml bottle size is ideal for convenient bolus administration.
Dosage Recommendations
- For supplementary nutrition: As recommended by healthcare professional
- For sole source nutrition: 1750ml provides complete vitamins and minerals (excluding electrolytes) for adults aged 19-50 years
- Use under medical supervision
- Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed
- Suitable for patients requiring high energy nutrition in a small volume
- Many nutritional products contain sucrose and other sugars - important for patients who are taking supplements as sip feeds to observe good oral hygiene
Community Use - Prescriptions
TwoCal Bolus can be prescribed on a FP10 (GP10 in Scotland) for the following indications:
- Patients with disease-related malnutrition
- Catabolic patients
- Fluid-restricted patients
- Other patients requiring a 2kcal/ml feed
All prescriptions should be endorsed ACBS (Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances).
Contraindications
- FOR ENTERAL USE ONLY
- Not for use in galactosaemia
- Suitable for people with diabetes provided that routine glucose checks are performed
Precautions
- In patients receiving some medications there may be a risk of drug nutrient interactions (e.g. warfarin and vitamin K). Careful prescribing and monitoring practices will serve to reduce the risk (please refer to pharmacist)
- Unless recommended by a qualified healthcare professional, not intended for use in children
- Patients should not make any additions to the feed without consulting their pharmacist or dietitian
Storage & Directions for Use
- Ready for use
- Store unopened at room temperature
- Shake well. Once opened, unused product should be resealed and stored in a refrigerator
- Unused contents should be discarded after 24 hours
